How do I get my dog used to wearing a sweater?

Getting your pup used to wearing a dog sweater typically starts with introducing it indoors along with a treat to form a positive association! It can take a few tries to adjust to the feeling of wearing a hoodie or warm sweater and some pups may not want to walk in apparel the first time they try it on. Using treats to encourage them to take a few steps and gradually work up to longer distances can help!

How do I find the right size dog sweater?

Measuring your dog is the most accurate way to ensure the right fit! The measurements we use are the chest girth (around the widest part of the chest), back length (from the collar to the base of the tail), and neck circumference (around the neck) to find the perfect sweater size for your dog. Can sweater and hoodies be worn with a harness?

All of our hoodies and sweaters do have a leash opening along the back that allows for a leash to attach to a harness! The harness can also be layered on top, but it is typically best to put the harness on first to ensure the fit is right for your pup. The harness opening is meant to not only accommodate our brand of harnesses but most harnesses currently on the market, so you can dress your dog in a sweater and walk them in cold weather!

How warm are the sweaters and hoodies?

Our knits are great for moderate weather for pups who need some extra coverage and warmth! They can also be layered with onesies, coats, or suits to provide extra warmth and protection in cold weather.

How do I know if the dog's sweater's fit is right?

Accepted Answer

In an ideal fit, the sweater ends at the base of the tail and is not gaping in the chest. Many times, there will be multiple sizes that can be functional for your pup, but we suggest prioritizing the fit in the chest to keep them warmer in the sweater and avoid any accidents! It’s okay for it to be a few inches short of the tail or have a little extra room in the chest as long as they’re comfortable and have a full range of motion.
